Alcoholism

There was a time in my life when I lived in a bottle. I found my courage, comfort, pleasure, and peace at the bottom of bottles and nowhere else. I drank with a passion (and a death wish) going through a fifth of booze every day or 2. I would just sober up to get drunk again, and was either drunk or hung over most of the time. Soon, I found myself a functioning alcoholic that couldn't function without a few drinks. It went on for some time and got worse and worse, until my heart decided to start breakdancing in my chest one day. I had to look death in the eye before I saw how out of control my drinking had gotten. My little scare made me decide that I needed to do something about my problem. I was determined to regain control over myself and stop drinking. It was a fight to free myself of my vice's hold, and it took time to relearn the self control that I had surrendered to alcohol, but, with the Lord's help, I was able to get past withdrawal and sober up. Thankfully, I am no longer an alcoholic. These days, I seldom drink. But, when I do, I can enjoy a beer, or cocktail, without feeling like I need to get plastered. ...I wrote a poem about drinking, during my struggle, that I wanted to share, for anyone out there that is going through that struggle.

"The Flow In Me"

Magic elixir, &
Destroyer of dynasties,
...You are the fire that
Flows in side of me

Mask all that ales me with
Forget & irony;
You make me
Act stupid,
When I ask you
Enlighten me;
I seek your
Comfort,
But you just
Hurt & frighten me;
You lift me
Up High,
Then you
Break me down
Violently;
Brought chilled, "on the rocks",
Still your entrance is fiery;
I can't live without you,
Though you keep saying,
"Die!",
To me;
You drowned out
Life's "noise",
As I sit and
Drink Silently,
Me without you
Isn't something that I can see

...Magic elixir,
Destroyer of Dynasties,
Will your noose ever loosen,
Or will you for ever be tide to me?

Life is a lot better out side of the bottle. If you happen to be living life in a bottle, just remember you don't have to. It might not be easy, but you can find your way out!

D.T.L.A. sunset

Hello world! Thanks for checking out Bsombin'! I'm still working on getting caught up on posting all the content that I stock-piled earlier in the year. So, this is another "catching-up" post...

A few months ago, my good buddy Jefroe hit me up about going and getting some footage, of the sun setting on D.T.L.A., for a video project he was working on. We got all our gear packed up and headed to an awesome view point, in "East Los", that Froe knew about. We went out to the east side and rolled through the hood, up into the hills, and into a little neighborhood that looked out over Los Angeles. We finally arrived at a little dirt road, that went up a hill, and was closed off to the public. We parked, gathered our gear, and started walking up the dirt road. Down town came into view as we reached the top of the hill. We set up our cameras and sat back to watch the stars come out, and the street lights come on, as the day came to an end. I got a lot of images, that evening, and, recently, edited some of my favorites to share. Hope you like... Thanks for stopping by. Check back for more art, music, poetry, photography, and more...

The over-worked, the dedicated, or the forgetful?

I went to K-Town a while back, to get a bite to eat, on a Sunday night. While walking in from the parking lot, I noticed that 2 of the offices had the lights on in the building across the street. At first, I felt bad for the people that were stuck in their offices, on a Sunday night, all by themselves. ...Then I thought, "That's dedication! Those people will get where ever it is they are going, because they are willing to go above and beyond to get the job done!" ...Then I thought, maybe they just left the lights on, as I walked into the Tofu House for dinner.

An unconfirmed quote

I found this quote, while surfing one day. It said it was a quote from Abraham Lincoln. I looked around some more and found several sites that said President Lincoln didn't actually say that. Whether or not he did or didn't say it, I think it's still a great quote! Whoever said it wasn't lying!

The Journey - pt.6

Thanks for checkin' out the blog. So, let's continue with the story...

There were two details left to take care of, before framing the acrylic art pieces we were working on. We needed some kind of unique or interesting hardware, to hold the frames on the acrylic, & LED lights to light the pieces. My partner Cory took charge of getting it lit, while I went looking for a good screw. Lol. His search ended online. Can't remember the name of the site he found, but they hooked it up! Mean while, I ended up, in Burbank, at Lucky's Hardware. ...A little shop that specializes in parts for race cars & airplanes! It took me a while to find the right screw, because of their huge selection, but I found just what I was looking for. Luck's is the place to go if you want a special screw! Lol. Here are some images from Lucky's & the hardware that I found & the LEDs Cory got.

Famous for being famous

On our way home from the Known Gallery, we saw a Los Angeles icon driving home in her trademark pink Corvette.

...When I was a kid, I remember seeing billboards with this big tittied blond lady all over L.A. All the billboards said were here name, so I didn't really understand what the add was for. It took me a minute to realize it was just an add for her, because it was so strange, and out of the usual, at the time. Growing up around L.A., you can't help but see her driving around from time to time. So, I would react like I saw a movie star, when I would see her driving around the city. The funny thing is, I didn't know why. ...Maybe it was the billboards. ...Maybe it was the giant titties & tight outfits. ...Or, maybe it was the fact the she carried herself like one & really knew how to sell you on the idea that she was a movie star. Guess you could say she is a bit of a "fake it till you make it" guru. She, basically, made herself "famous for being famous" & became a pioneer of the term... I never actually saw a movie with her in it, but I still think she's a star & still love the feeling of being a star struck little kid, again, when I watch that pink Corvette drive by every now & then.

Push Adaptation at Known Gallery

Hi, & thanks for checkin' out Bsombin'! Last month, my "brotha from anotha mutha"(the man behind At Large Media & At Last League), Jefroe, hit me up to see about going to the opening of Push's show at the Known Gallery.  We hopped in the ride, the ninja princess & I, and we went and swooped Jefroe up on the way to the gallery. The show was not what I was expecting, I thought I was going to see a bunch of Push's paintings. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised to find that he had turned the whole gallery into one of his paintings that you could walk through, by painting directly on the walls & fastening straps, that ran all over the room, to the walls floor & ceiling. Push really inspired me with his installation & got me thinking a lot about my own anamorphic art & sculptures, since this work changed every time you moved though the room. It was also interesting how Push made his audience a part of the work & the work a moving piece that changed constantly through out the night. The whole idea made every viewers experience unique & personal for the viewer. It was fun photographing the installation to capture my unique experience. It took me a minute to get around to editing the pics, but I still wanted to share Pusher's work with you all...
