Hello again! Thanks for checkin' out the blog! I've decided to add another form of art to this blog... Culinary art! I love to cook, & bake, so I've decided to share some of my recipes, & kitchen ideas, with you. Here are a couple of ideas I've come up with, to keep my lil' ninja happy at the table.
AM Idea Part 1 - To start, a fruit plate. These always seem to bring a smile to peoples faces, regardless of who you serve them to!
1st, select the fruit you want to use. This all depends on who you are making the fruit plate for and what they like. In my case, my lil' ninja prefers strawberries, pears, & apples. Don't forget, dirt doesn't taste good. So make sure you wash the fruit before you do anything else!
2nd, get some lemon juice. You'll want to dip fruits like apples, pears, & bananas in it, to keep them from browning, incase the fruit might be sitting out for a while as your "ninja's" munch on it. Nobody likes to eat brown apples, or bananas, & you don't want your culinary art to go to waste!
3rd, slice it and dice it! I recommend cutting your fruit in to symmetrical pieces. This just makes it easier to arrange them into patterns that look good.
...Don't forget to dip any of the fruits that brown (like apples & bananas) in the lemon juice.
Also, I suggest starting with the largest fruits first...
Cut & arrange the fruit from largest to smallest.
...This makes it easier to estimate how much of each fruit you will have room for on the plate.
4th, give it some flare! I like to make my ninja's fruit plate a little more kid friendly. So, I add some chocolate syrup! What ever your "ninjas" prefer (whether chocolate; yogurt; or honey), a lil' glaze, or drizzle, could be the difference between an empty plate & a bunch of left overs. So get creative in the way you appeal to your ninja's!
AM Idea Part 2 - I like to have fun with food. Sometimes that means not worrying too much about the health benefits of everything. Since we already have a bunch of fruit to provide vitamins & nutrients to our ninjas, I want to share a fun & easy Bfast idea that just about any ninja would love! ...S'mores pancakes!!!!
1st you'll need to get yourself some pancake mix (I chose Bisquick's "Shake n Pour" pancake mix) , marshmallows (I prefer chocolate covered marshmallows), chocolate chips, & graham crackers...
2nd, you'll need to crush the graham crackers into small bits.
3rd, add the crushed graham crackers, marshmallows, & chocolate chips to the pancake mix.
...depending on what kind of pancake mix you are using, you'll need to shake or stir the ingredients.
4th, you should grease your pan. This just makes it easier to flip the flap jacks.
5th, set your stove on a medium/high flame.
6th, pour the desired amount of batter into the pan. The bigger the pancake the longer it takes to cook. Since you have chocolate chips & marshmallows (which could both melt & make a mess) in the mix, you shouldn't make the pancakes too big. Smaller pancakes serve up faster (incase your ninjas are restless) & make less mess. Cook them about 1 - 1 &1/2 minutes on each side.
Serve them with your fruit plate, & favorite toppings (ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, maple syrup, etc.), for a delicious & nutritious breakfast (or dinner) & enjoy!!
...Thanks for checking out Bsombin', please check back soon!
