A poetic post

Thanks for checkin' out Bsombin'!! I'm still working on my book of poems. I'm almost done writing & have started working on creating & sorting all the images that will be used for the book. The finished book will have images to go with each poem, in order to touch my readers a little deeper. I am very passionate about this project & want it to impact people with as much emotion as I am putting into it, so I decided to add my visual art to the book to help pull the reader further into my world. The end result, for the reader, should be a walk through their emotional gambit. A journey through self lead by my words & visions. Here is one of my most recent poems written for the book. I hope you enjoy it!! Please check back soon for more bsombin'!

"The Napalm Sea"

As it looked out on the
Horizon...

God seized the meek,
While it was at ease, &
Hurled it into the
Violent seas

Under waves that
Swelled & crashed,
It's whole was stripped,
Drowned, & Smashed

Then, by currents
Swift & strong,
Pulled to depths
Where none belong,
...Can not breath &
Light is gone,
There's nothing's right,
In this abyss of wrong,

Yet, still not stuck,
It's dragged along,
Finding solace
In an angel's song,
Faith not spent,
Though the struggle's long...
Just then the seas turned
To napalm...

Somehow, though,
It retains aplomb,
&, in the fire,
It finds a calm,
An explosion within,
Transformation bomb,
Brings forth a Phoenix
Chanting psalms...

Now the Phoenix
Can swim free...
Free from drowning
In a sea of misery!
Free to fly
To it's destiny!
Free to become
What it was meant to be!

...It had to drown, &
Go through the fire,
To be purified of
Weakness & dark desires!
It had to be stripped,
& smashed, too,
In order to be rebuilt, &
Made better, as new!
Now, soaring,
With upward aim,
It just has to
Adapt to the burn of flames,

...Though, as time passed,
The burn did too,
&, through it's trials,
Strong & wise, the meek grew!
Keep in mind what it went through,
& never give up,
Regardless of what kind of seas you're tossed into!

Workin' with N2metalworks

Thanks for checkin' out Bsombin'! So I've been working a lot on Kibatsu Creative stuff, lately. In the short time since it was founded, the company has grow into the two halves that make up Kibatsu, with the help of my partner Cory. The art/creative half & the industrial/manufacturing half. The art/creative is how it originated. Along the way, however, Nick, from N2metalworks, approached us with the opportunity to grow our business by working with N2metalworks. Since then, we have worked together on multiple projects & are in the process of doing some big things! Recently, Nick called us out to help him with a job installing a sign that N2metalworks had made for the "Tinhorn Flats" restaurant in Hollywood. It was a fun project to work on & a great learning experience. It's been awesome working with N2metalworks & we are very excited about the new projects that we will be working on together. I'll share more as we get further along with the process. For now, though, all I can say is I never would have imagined, 2 years ago, that I would be working on the kinds of things Kibatsu is working on today. We are very blessed & fortunate to be on the road we are traveling. Here are a couple of images from the sign install. Check back soon for more Bsombin'!

The Journey - pt.5

Thanks for checkin' out Bsombin'! So I've been writing about my creative journey. A quick recap... Through a series of events, I was inspired to begin exploring new "canvas" options. I decided to stray away from the norm & begin looking for new materials to paint on. I began working with glass & acrylic (plexiglass) & soon found myself being pulled into a new world of creative possibilities. My journey has been through this new world in the art universe.

...Along the way, I decided to make some pieces & send them to iconic figures, after reading articles about several artists who grew their careers by doing the same thing to promote their work. I talked to my partner Cory about it & he agreed it would be a great way to promote both my art & Kibatsu Creative. We began reaching out to friends to see who could help us get in touch with celebrities & iconic figures. To our surprise, we found we had more options than we thought & connections to some big names. While we thought about which celebrities we would choose to send work to, I got the idea to design custom frames for the gifts we would be sending out. Fortunately for us, our friend Nick, at N2Metalworks, was able to lend us a hand there. I drew up some plans & showed Nick what I was thinking. After some discussion, I decided to redesign the frames, because of some design flaws which Nick brought to my attention. After a redesign, Nick took the design & brought back some beautiful aluminum frames that were just what I had envisioned to go on the acrylic pieces. Here is a look at the original rough design & the finished frames (after the redesign) before I mounted them on the acrylic pieces.

A look at another one of my creative processes

"Chuch"...

Hello world!!!! Thank you for taking the time to see what's new with Bsombin'. ...I'm not a religious person. I am a spiritual person, though. I believe that we, as human beings, are not the "top of the food chain". I believe in "God". ...a being that is greater than us & who exist in a realm that is beyond our understanding. I don't think "God" to be what is written in "holy books", though. Instead I believe in an energy that exist through out the universe. An energy that is responsible for everything in the universe being conceived & continuing to exist. An energy that can't be fully explained by our simple minds. An entity that is too far beyond our understanding to be defined. ...The reason for the "Big Bang"; ... The factor that caused "fish to grow legs & walk onto land"; ... The force behind "evolution"; ...The yin & yang, the ebb & flow, the gravity that holds everything together & tears it all apart at the same time... Our Maker. I also feel that I am being lead, in my spiritual journey, by our maker. And, I feel that all that I experience in life is for a reason.

...With all this said, I was happy to help a church in Glendale when they asked for my help in restoring an old mural for them. Here are the before & after pics of the mural...

The Journey - pt.4

I wanted to experiment a little more with the acrylic, before starting larger scale pieces. This is a piece I made, "King James - Part1", while I was still testing out my ideas. It was like a thumbnail sketch, for me, & it also became my first acrylic stand-up piece. ...Like a mini- sculpter.
