A poetic night

Thanks for checkin' out the Bsombin' blog! I've been working on photography a lot, lately. But that isn't to say that I haven't been wearing my other "creative hats" too. I haven't taken the time to photograph my newest pieces, and I have a lot of drawings that need to be photographed too, to share. I'm also working on a new mix to post soon. But, for now, I wanted to share some more poetry, to break up the steady flow of captures a little bit. I hope you enjoy, and check back soon for more Bsombin'!

"Lead Through The Rough"

When we first met
I knew that, through you,
I would grow

...Little did I know that it would be:

Strength, through pain;
Serenity, by going insane;
Purpose, while picking up the remains;
Peace, after a war between my heart & brain;
& the feeling of being complete, after being completely drained...

Now that I know me,
& have been set free,
I just wish you could see
What you've helped me to be

A poetic post

Thanks for checkin' out Bsombin'!! I'm still working on my book of poems. I'm almost done writing & have started working on creating & sorting all the images that will be used for the book. The finished book will have images to go with each poem, in order to touch my readers a little deeper. I am very passionate about this project & want it to impact people with as much emotion as I am putting into it, so I decided to add my visual art to the book to help pull the reader further into my world. The end result, for the reader, should be a walk through their emotional gambit. A journey through self lead by my words & visions. Here is one of my most recent poems written for the book. I hope you enjoy it!! Please check back soon for more bsombin'!

"The Napalm Sea"

As it looked out on the
Horizon...

God seized the meek,
While it was at ease, &
Hurled it into the
Violent seas

Under waves that
Swelled & crashed,
It's whole was stripped,
Drowned, & Smashed

Then, by currents
Swift & strong,
Pulled to depths
Where none belong,
...Can not breath &
Light is gone,
There's nothing's right,
In this abyss of wrong,

Yet, still not stuck,
It's dragged along,
Finding solace
In an angel's song,
Faith not spent,
Though the struggle's long...
Just then the seas turned
To napalm...

Somehow, though,
It retains aplomb,
&, in the fire,
It finds a calm,
An explosion within,
Transformation bomb,
Brings forth a Phoenix
Chanting psalms...

Now the Phoenix
Can swim free...
Free from drowning
In a sea of misery!
Free to fly
To it's destiny!
Free to become
What it was meant to be!

...It had to drown, &
Go through the fire,
To be purified of
Weakness & dark desires!
It had to be stripped,
& smashed, too,
In order to be rebuilt, &
Made better, as new!
Now, soaring,
With upward aim,
It just has to
Adapt to the burn of flames,

...Though, as time passed,
The burn did too,
&, through it's trials,
Strong & wise, the meek grew!
Keep in mind what it went through,
& never give up,
Regardless of what kind of seas you're tossed into!

"Song for the South-central Siren"

Hi! As I've been mentioning lately, I am going through a period of change, as an artist. The changes have recently gone from my visual to my written expression. I tried doing some new things with my poetry & wanted to share a new piece & poem. ...both are a bit different from "my usual". The piece is titled "Sixteen Kisses (The Siren from South-central)" & the poem is titled "Song For A Siren". Hopefully you enjoy them & come back soon for more Bsombin'!

"Song For A Siren"

Left in a storm
Afloat on a boat
Lost & alone on a
Violent sea...

When, suddenly
He was found by a
Siren who began to
Sing seductively

As he drifted,
He became enchanted
By the siren who's
Song was so lovely

So, to set
Himself free
He began to sing, too,
& the siren stopped singing, reluctantly

As he sang,
The storm settled;
There was a calm on the sea; &
The siren swam silently

He sang,
"Siren, kind siren,
With beauty & grace,
Please be kind & show me mercy!"

The siren then smiled &
Drew close to him,
To say,
"You sing beautifully!"

"...But, I regret to inform you...
Someone should have warned you
...Sinking you is
My duty"...

Yet, he continued
His song & kept
Sailing on,
As the siren went along patiently

He sang,
"Siren, kind siren,
Please give ear to my plea &
Do not deliver me to tragedy!"

The siren then smiled,
As she drew close,
To say,
"You sing beautifully!"

"...Yet, I regret to inform you...
Someone should have warned you
...Sinking you is
My duty"...

Yet, he continued
To sing, & kept on sailing,
With the siren still waiting
patiently

...And, so they went,
Back & forth, & he continued on course
Till he reached
The end of his journey

Shocked, the siren said,
"How can this be,
Was your song really so strong that
It brought you home safely?"

His reply, "Not my song,
but faith & love for family!"
Then the siren turned back &
swam away miserably

A runner's poem

Hi! Thanks for checkin' out Bsombin'! I've never run a marathon. But, about a month and a half ago, I decided on running the 2013 L.A. marathon. I've been going on some pretty long runs, lately, in training for it. The longest runs I've ever been on, actually. I began thinking in poetic verse, one day, as I was running. I found myself doing it more and more, as I increase the number of miles I ran. Now, it's become a habit & a part of my running. I thought it would only be right to write about running, since running was inspiring my writing so much. After several runs, I finally sat down and wrote the following. I hope you enjoy it! Please check back soon for more poetry, art, music, & more!

"Painfully Serene"

To prepare,
Stretch muscles & focus thought;
Brace mind & body,
An inner battle will be fought;
"Discipline brings gains",
The lesson that'll be taught; &
Music will help motivate,
To find inspiration when it's sought

Volume raised high,
Icarus wings ready to fly;
A deep breath, before it starts,
Then the journey begins & all else departs...

Freedom of body,
As pulse begins to climb;
Detached from life's woes,
Finding freedom of mind;
Freedom of spirit,
Drawn close to the divine; &
The heart is set free,
As, to it's aches, I grow blind

Lost in the beat,
Sweat starts to run, as I push down the street;
Test of endurance & strength,
Push past limits & go the extra length...

Searching for bliss,
In agony's midst;
No surrender to weakness,
A strong mind will persist;
Stopping is the temptation
That I must resist; &
On pushing my body,
I must insist

Music start to fade out & in,
As muscle aches shout & the battle begins;
Will must be strong,
To carry on for so long...

Now hurt brings doubt,
As the real struggle starts;
Strain presents fire,
To the legs, lungs, & heart;
The will's power gets tested,
As the body falls apart; &
Focus & discipline must be
Mastered arts

Music is muted by the hearts pound,
As all other sounds are silenced & drowned;
Always furthest from any win,
The first to give up & give in...

A fight past the fire,
Journey to the storm's eye;
3rd eye opened wide,
On an endorphin high;
I fought the whole way through,
Without excuse or alibi; &
As the finish line's crossed,
I'm reminded of why.

...As I find myself
Painfully serene.

"The Wise Old Owl"

I, just recently, finished another canvas. I decided to write a poem to go along with it as well, while I was painting it. Here, now, are both. Enjoy & please check back soon for more Bsombin'!

"The Wise Owl's Words"

I once spoke with
A wise owl,
& told him my fears
So he said...
 "I'll share with you, my
Wisdom,
If you lend me your
Ears..."

"When we first learn to
Spread our wings,
The winds of change
Carry us
Off into the world's
Mystery & majesty
...Then,
As life's
Gravity is realized,
& begins to pull on us
This is when
The fearful fall &
Brave hearts learn to fly &
Become one with
The sky"

An observation I've made, made into a poem...

"The Greatest Gift"

Persistence...

It is the greatest gift to have

...Even if you are
Dumb;
Weak; &
Slow,
As long as you
Persist,
You will get to where
You want to go

My poetic thoughts for you to see...

"The Reason"

Everything happens for a
Reason...

However,
Losing you is something
I don't understand
But,
Far be it for me to
Question God's plan
The loss has
Made me a stronger man
Now there's a man
Where a boy used to stand
Though my hearts broke
My mind stays in command
...Disciplined,
Focused, &
Made to withstand...
I continue to
Live up to
Life's constant demands
All be it without you,
I will reach
"The Promise Lands"

...Whatever the reason,
I must grow strength from my pain

Flames & Ashes

Lifted
On Phoenix wings...
As
Passion burns
To reconstruct
& resurrect
The decomposed
Spirit
That once gravitated
Towards the
Inevitable manifestation
Of the heart's
Deepest desires;
The mind's
Wildest fantasies;
& the soul's
Most sincere wishes

A new moon
Rises
As yesterday's
Ashes are
Carried off by
The
Winds of change.

My Metamorphosis

I will be
Different soon,
I am a
Caterpillar spinning
My cocoon!

Working to turn
Myself Inside out,
In order to be sure,
And without a doubt,
That I live all the
Dreams
I have dreamt about!
To this idea,
I will stay devout!
I will not sway
Or stray off route!

I will be
Different soon,
I am a Butterfly that will soon
Fly out of from my cocoon
