I can't even remember when it was but I think it was sometime at the end of last year when my friend, and fellow artist, Mehdi Bouqua came over and we decided to work on a canvas together. It's been on the back burner for a while now, while I have been working on my portfolio, but tonight I finally finished it. Thanks to Mr. Bouqua for contributing his talents to this piece. If you'ld like to see more of his work, check out his blog... mehdibouquaphotos

The Queen of Hearts...
My painting, "The Queen of Hearts", has been the "header" on this blog for a good minute. So, I figured, I might as well keep her on here as a permanent post. To keep it fresh, though, I am adding one of my poems to the post...
Coping With Love...
I try to think,
But nothing makes sense;
I try not to feel,
But just make things intense;
Intent & intensions,
Is, and are, to
Fix & heal.
But when I make mention,
Of what it is that I
Think, & feel,
... I move forward in reverse,
Let go as tight as I can,
& improve at making things
Worse.
I live in a world where
Light leaves me in darkness,
The cold burns, &
Hurt helps me heal.
...& all because of what
A
Twisted mind thinks,
&
A
Broken heart feels...

The House of Champions
My princess recently began taking kick boxing lessons, in addition to the Karate she has been learning. After a couple of months, she tested for her first sash a couple of weeks ago. Another proud moment for yours truly. Especially since, she decided to go above and beyond what anyone expected her to do, and double her work load, on her own. Watching my princess pass that test and get her yellow sash was a very inspiring moment, on the day after my B-Day, that has motivated me to push myself, harder than ever, in my efforts to accomplish my own goals. It has been a struggle for her to adjust to taking the 2 classes back to back, so to see her succeed was awesome! It reminded me that I too (as we all can) can push past the struggles that keep me from my goals and accomplish anything I put my mind to. I am very blessed, and thankful, to have such an amazing little girl to inspire and be inspired by!

Election day!
Today(11/2/2010) I taught my daughter how easy it is to vote, and why it is important to do so. After work/school, we took a walk up the street to our local pole place, checked in, and got "our" ballot. We stood in line for a little while. It was just long enough for me to explain that we were there to help choose our new government officials, since their turn in office was over, and to help decide what new laws will be made. I told her that by voting we were doing our part to help pass laws that would hopefully help make our cities and state better. After a few minutes, we went up and filled out "our" ballot, and turned it in. To my surprise, my daughter was very excited and enthusiastic about the whole process. ...Especially when she got a sticker at the end.
