"Exhibit Terror"

I was recently invited, by my good friend Mold, to be part of the "Exhibit Terror" art show, at EM's Artist Cafe, in Culver City. It was just the motivation that I needed to get me painting again, after several months without touching a brush. Unfortunately I went to big, and my new canvas wouldn't fit in the show. Luckily, I had "The Queen of Hearts" sitting around, & ready to show, so it all worked out. There was an opening reception this past weekend that turned up a pretty good sized, and very eclectic, crowd. Em's Artist Cafe was filled with artists & art fans alike, while DJ's played electronic music inside & live bands played a variety of rock outside. The show runs till the end of the month, if you happen to be in Culver City and want to check it out. The address is 2926 La Cienega Blvd.,Culver City 90232. I took some pics of most of the art. The art wasn't labeled so I'm not sure about who the artist were. Some pieces, however, are obvious as to who they are by. Here are some images from the night and I tried to label what I could of the art...

Another round of playin' catch-up...

Sorry for the stagnate blog, been practicing my alchemy and hunting for the goose that lays golden eggs. So, once again I have fallen behind on posting. Got lots to share, but not a lot of time to blog about it, unfortunately. Time will be made, this week, though, to get some new music, images, and poems posted. Please check back soon. In the mean time, here are some pics I've been meaning to put up...

Been learning to tattoo lately.

...and practicing drawing, a lot, too. I spent a lot of time sketching and trying to decide what I was going to tattoo on myself, after deciding that the first tattoo I was going to get would also be the first tattoo I would do.

...and somewhere along the line, in all my excitement, I got so impatient and eager to tattoo myself that I just reached over and did this to my ankle....

After freestyling a "L" and an "A" on my ankle, like a dumb-ass, I came up with this sketch to "finish" what I started. Still working on it, but I am hoping to have some pics of the finished tat posted by the end of the week.

Been busy, but I had to take a day to go and enjoy summer in Cali, at the beach, with my little girl. Her karate school, the House of Champions, had a family beach day, so I took a day off to go soak up some sun with my lil' Champ...

... and build Maya temples for plastic dinosaurs to live on. lol.

Haven't been showing my art much, lately, but I made it out to the Airliner again, last night, for the Art & Music show. A couple of good friends, Mold & Tina, also showed some paintings (but I didn't get the best of pictures for some reason.???).

Mold's cuisine's band, DSOM, rocked the second floor with some good punk, also. Check them out at differentstateofmind

It was another fun Monday night, with a bunch of good friends, at the Airliner, to wrap up the Labor Day weekend.

The shows must go on...

This past weekend was Father's Day, and once again I found myself stretched thin to try and get everything done... After a long week of the 9-5 grind, I started Saturday off working a company picnic. Up at 6AM on Sat., and in Valencia by 7:30, to cater a company picnic for 400 people. Afterwards, I made a mad dash home to prep for an art show. A few hours later I arrived at Circus Disco, with a few friends, to set up for an art show/club night. My friend Mehdi was also showing at Circus, so it made for a good night of art; music; & friends, since we had a lot of mutual friends show up. ...Good times!

Father's day was spent with my princess... To me, being a Dad is a privilege. I am blessed to have a child as wonderful as mine. But, being a good parent means giving up a lot of what I want to do in order to be who I need to be for my little princess. It isn't always easy to put aside what I want in order to provide what my daughter needs, but things are always a little easier on Father's Day. Between the gift's, food, and shows of love that I got yesterday, I was overwhelmed. I had to pretend my allergies (which I don't even have) were acting up, since my little one kept putting puddles in my eyes. I can't say enough about how much my little girl means to me, but I can say that I wouldn't be who I am if it wasn't for her. Fatherhood has given my life passion, purpose, direction, & meaning. It has probably saved my life too. So on Father's day I am the happiest, and most thankful, of men!

After a happy Father's day, I had another art show... This time at 'The Airliner", in Lincoln Heights. I was able to get a few friend in the show with me, so Mold & Mehdi both showed some pieces, too. Through out the night I listened to a lot of good music, made some new friends, and had some laughs with old friends. I also met a talented artist named Nikki Mull. One of her pieces is below, and you can see more at www.nikkimull.com.
