Valetine's Day blues

A poem for the lonely and broken hearted, to end Valentine's day...

"Nobody's Valentine"

I ain't nobody's Valentine,
And nobody is mine!

Nothin' but a bouquet of memories
This Valentine's day,
It's better to have loved and lost,
Or, at least, that's what they say...

But, I'm  missing you so much, right now, as blues turn into greys,
While cold replaces what was once the warmth brought by sun rays,
With a melancholy mist and a sad seductive haze,
I see our Valentine's days past, leaving me in a lonely daze.

...All the years, since then,
Remembering you, again and again.
I guess, that's why, after all this time,
I still ain't nobody's Valentine & nobody's mine.

It's getting close to Valentine's Day!

...Not that it matters to a single guy like me. Lol. But as a poet, I can appreciate the beauty of the day reserved for lovers and romance. After all, what's more romantic than poetry?! I'll be sharing some poems for lovers, and the heartbroken, through out the rest of the week, in honor of St. Valentine and his lover's holiday. Here is the first one, for the lovers out there. I hope you enjoy!

"Love, Unspoken"

We have our secrets,
Sweet truths that we don't share;
Keep quiet about feelings,
Pretend that they're not there;
The most intimate moments between us,
Yet, we act like we don't care;
&, of the emotions we are feeling,
We try not to be aware...

...Together,
Glowing from the other's charge,
We lay in the dark;
Both our hearts burning up,
From what started, simply, as a spark;
Although it wasn't our intention,
On one another we left our mark;
Yet, on all the feelings between us,
Neither one of us will remark...

You are the one I lie to myself about,
My love and my muse,
Because it scares me to face
All of your beauty and loving "truths".

...So, we continue to speak,
Without word,
And spending time...
Though  unspoken,
You know my hearts yours and
I know that yours is mine.

...You are my lover.

Christmas Day In L.A. - Pt.2

After watching the dancers for a while, I walked down Olvera Street to get some more captures and started making my way back to the truck...

When I got to my truck, I felt a stare. ...Like someone was watching me. I was parked in a little cul de sac and there was no one around, but I knew I was being watched. I stopped and looked around, but didn't see anyone in site. And then I looked up...
I took a second to observe my observer, before hoppin' in the ride and heading into the heart of downtown. The unexpected happened again, as I "landed" in D.T.... Another stare from above was felt. This time, my observer was easier to spot. The funny thing is, my two observers were very symbolic to me. One, I took as a symbol of strength and power, the other as a symbol of peace and love. Both, I felt, were signs of what the new year would bring. ...Time will tell, if I interpreted them correctly. But, so far so good. Lol.
I walked around an empty downtown for a while, before finding my way to the Westin Bonaventure hotel. It too was empty, aside from a few people eating brunch in the restaurant on the first floor and a few people walking to their rooms. Downtown was more of a ghost town, on Christmas day...
After the Bonaventure, it was back to the truck and off to MacAurthur Park...

The park was the opposite of downtown, it was packed and full of people. Finding parking was a bitch, too! But, after a few circles, I found a spot and made my way over to the park. I was running out of time, so I just walked a quick lap around the lake and got some captures, before heading back home to hang out with the family...

It was a beautiful sunny Christmas day and the feeling, through out the city, was one of peace and joy. It, actually, wasn't until that morning that I had decided to go out and capture Christmas day. I'm still not sure what compelled me to go out on my capture expedition that day. But, I do know now that I am thankful to have experienced everything that the journey showed me. At the end of it, I felt like the city and I had grown a little closer. Like she had shown me sides of herself that I hadn't seen before. She is my city, this crazed city of angels, and I love her. Spending the day with her made it a great and memorable Christmas day, for me. Although, the best part of the day was spent at home with the family!

I hope you enjoyed Christmas in February and I hope you all have a Happy Valentine's Day!! Check back soon for more Bsombin'!!

Christmas Day in L.A. - Pt.1

Thanks for checkin' out the blog! When I went out and captured these images on Christmas day, last year, I knew it would be a while before I got around to editing and posting them. I decided I didn't need to post these images during the holiday season, seeing as how marketers and advertising executives don't see a need to stay in the season with things either. I mean, during the Christmas season, I was seeing Valentine's and Easter decorations for sale. The day after Christmas, some stores already had their Valentine's Day displays in the windows! ...So, I figured, why no flip things and bring some Christmas spirit to the week leading up to Valentine's Day?! So, with that said, here are some captures from Christmas day in L.A....

I started the trip around the city of angels at the Elysian Park trails.

After a quick hike, it was off to Chinatown...

Most of the businesses were closed, through out Chinatown. But some were open and there was light traffic in the streets and on the sidewalks.

I found a parking lot with a view and got some shots of the skyline, before heading to Olvera Street. It was a nice surprise, when I got there, coming to find an Aztec dance group performing in the square at the west entrance to Olvera Street. I could hear their drums as I walked through the crowd, but didn't know what was going on until I saw the feathered head dresses dancing around above the heads of the people in the crowd. It was an amazing performance and an awesome capture opportunity. It's a good thing I was using a digital camera that day. Or, I would have gone through a lot of film, during the preformance! I took a lot of shots! I'm just gonna share a few, though...

Valentine's Day Mix (A.K.A. the Bsombin' Feb. Love Story mix)

Welcome to the blog! Wether you've been here before, or are checkin' out Bsombin' for the first time, thanks for stoppin' by. It took me a while to get this month's mix together because I wanted to tell a story with the songs in this mix. With it being Feb, and with Valentine's Day coming up, I decided to go with a love story. The music goes from an 80's New Wave classic, to some Dubstep, to Drum & Bass, & finishes with an electro-rock remix. As the intro says, it's a journey through sound & a tale of love. I hope you give it a listen & enjoy it enough to share or download it. For those who will be celebrating Valentine's Day with your love, on Tuesday, listen to the mix with your sweetheart & have a Happy Valentine's Day! As for those of us who won't be celebrating with a special someone... You don't really need to be with a sweetheart to enjoy this mix. So bump it & eat some chocolate ice cream, or something, and have a great Valentine's day anyways!
