A couple of lil' mixes for your listening pleasure...

Some friends asked me, "What's up with the mixes?", the other day. So I made sure to make some time, this weekend, to get on the decks and put some mixes together. It's all about bass, as usual. Both mixes are mutts. ...Half Dub-Step, half Drum-N-Bass... If you can't get the links to work, on this page, just cut and past the URLs into your browser. Check back for some more music and art!

"Held Down By Hang Ups"

Life has handed me a lot more ups and downs than usual, recently, which has made it hard to focus on the blogging. But, after a couple of days decompressing, this Memorial Day weekend, I have a few things to add to the ol' blizogg. First some art... I finished another canvas, last week, just in time for another show at the Bordello. Now I'm trying to get "My Queen" finished before the next art walk, so I can show her...

Dubsteppin'

Time for some more music! This time I'm taking you to the land of Dub-Step, for 25min of "screw-face" business! Once again, I wanted to keep it interesting, so we got a lot o' Dub Step flavors in this mix, but it basically goes from hard to harder to hardest... The end is grimy! Not what you want to listen to if you're trying to put a baby to sleep or cure a headache. But if you what some bass-heavy tunes to dance, work, workout, cook, or wash your dog to, all you gotta do is click the link. If you're feelin' Dub Step music, you'll want to do just that!

Another busy weekend...

Saturday started at the camp/park, where I work sometimes, working a company picnic. A lot of calories were burnt in all the running around, trying to feed 1600 hungry people who kept coming back for more. Took a second, in all the running around, to enjoy the beauty of the day and watch the fish swimming in the stream.

After work, it was a quick stop at home to change, get my paintings, and meet up with my friend Marissa, before going to the Circus!

Another art exhibit, at a club. So, we got some drinks then made the rounds and talked to all the artist and promoters, before gettin' down on the dance floor.

There was a fetish club on one side, and a house club on the other, so it made for a very diverse and interesting crowd. Saw some E-tards getting a "light show" while we were on the house side. Thought it was pretty funny to see a 30 something year old man, waving around glow sticks, thinking he was cool. His buddies, the E-tards, loved it though. It was a fun night.

The only downside to it was missing my friend's B-Day party, since we didn't finish with Circus till late. Sunday morning took me back to the camp/park for another company picnic. This time, however, I worked the Zip-line ride, which is a lot less hectic than working the buffets, and it was a lot smaller of a company. Finished the day running errands, before coming home to get back on the grind and working on some freelance art jobs.

A night in Down Town L.A.

I displayed some art last night, at the Bordello, in Down Town L.A. A cool little spot on 1st street, off of Alameda.

The club was kind of dark, for an art show, but I got a great spot for 2 of the 4 canvases I displayed. I was tripping out on all the decor and lighting. It made me wish I had a better camera. Whoever decorated the place did an amazing job. Even the cash register, behind the bar, was cool.

There were a few different performances, through out the night, to keep things interesting. A couple of bands played, but the most popular performance, of the night, was the burlesque show. ...As if all the naked women at work weren't enough. Lol.

Nothing sold, but connections were made, and good times were had. Made some new friends & got to spend some time with my good friend Marissa who came through to show support. Got a few more shows this month, so far, and I'll have some work in a gallery in Down Town soon (with a reception during next weeks L.A. art walk), so there will be more opportunities to make some sales. Till then, I'll be on my grind!...

Look what Google found for me...

I decided to Google myself, the other day, to see what came up. I was happy to find that it was actually me, and not some imitation, generic-brand, "Bsomb", at the top of the search. I was, however, a little surprised to see the websites that the first and third listings linked to. The first took me to "L.A. Gangs"! ...And here I thought I put the past behind me, and erased all the gang ties. Lol. It's funny to see my old graffiti crew listed as a gang. Apples and oranges... We were "bombin'", not "bangin'", back in the day, so it's comedy to see us listed as gangsters. The second link was one I was actually looking for ( and the only link to my name that I was actually responsible for creating. Lol). The third was another funny surprise... It was a link to someone's "Flicker" page, which had an old picture of a freight train I painted a long time ago. It was actually a train that I didn't have a picture of, so I was pretty happy to find this. I didn't expect my Google search to take me on a little trip down memory lane, but it did... Just more proof that life is full of surprises.
