5/30/21 - Birthday Picnic For Gus - Part 4

...One more quick one from Gus' Birthday Picnic. I've been bringing my son along to cruises and car events, recently. He's become my favorite model to shoot, now. And, he is even beginning to get recognized at the cruises, since he's such a saucy little mutt. We call him "Chico the Cholo", because of his wild behavior. Here are some shots of my son Chico the Cholo

5/30/21 - Birthday Picnic For Gus - Part 3

Thanks for checkin' out the blog! There weren't a lot of lowriders at the picnic when I got there. And, I wasn't able to stay long, because I had to go to work that day. Aside from the cars in the first two posts, there were only a handful of other cars there to take pictures of. But it seemed like it was all about quality over quantity at the picnic, because all the cars there were sick! There were a couple of cars from Streetwise C.C., and a car from Primeros C.C. parked at the far end of the parking lot, along with Ms. Patti from Ruthless Ryderz C.C. So I headed over to get some pics of the cars.

I still have more to come from the lowrider picnic. So check back soon!

5/30/21 - Birthday Picnic For Gus - Part 2

Thanks for stoppin' by and checkin' out the Bsombin' blog! I've been struggling to find time to post, lately. It seams like the only way I can make time is by sacrificing sleep. So, here I am, again, writing in the middle of the night half asleep and tired AF... If you find some grammar and spelling mistakes in this, its because I'm running on empty batteries and fumes. But, I'll do my best to have this make sense and be understandable. In my last post, I was sharing flicks from a lowrider picnic I went to a few weeks back. So we'll just pick up were we left off.

...After getting flicks of Cookie's '66, I headed over to a bombita that was parked on the other side of the parking lot. This car was immaculate and looked like it was being driven for the first time that day. It was a 1939 Chevy Master Deluxe. I felt like this car belonged in a museum. It was a piece of automotive history that has been perfectly restored and looked freshly detailed. It was picture perfect, posted in the parking lot, shinning in the sun. So I couldn't help but to take a lot of pictures of it. I really enjoy shooting the old bombitas. It's like taking a trip back in time, when I see old bombs like this.

I still have some more flicks from the lowrider picnic to share, before taking a look at the work of Michelangelo and checkin' out the Crystal Cathedral. And then we'll get back to the cars... And not just lowriders either. I have a lot of automotive photography coming soon. ...Everything from Fords to Ferraris, Lincolns to Lamborghinis, and Buicks to Bugattis! So make sure to check back soon!

5/30/21 - Birthday Picnic For Gus - Part 1

Thanks for stoppin' by the Bsombin' blog. A couple of weekends ago I went out to Brand Park (in Mission Hills) for a lowrider picnic. One of my fellow lowrider photographers (@gusphotography818) was celebrating a birthday. His dad (@Cookiezproductionz818) is a pretty well know member of the lowrider community. Cookie organizes a lot of the cruises and lowrider events in the San Fernando Valley. So he invented the lowrider community to come out to Brand Park to help celebrate his son Gus' B-day.

I had to work that day, so I just stopped by for a little bit to see who was there and to get some flicks of the lowriders. I got there about a half hour after the picnic started. There weren't a lot of cars there yet. I think there were maybe 10 or 11 lowlows in the lot, when I got there. But there were still some good photo opportunities.

The first thing I did, when I got there, was shoot Cookie's lowrider. This car is bad ass! It's fully customized to the point were I'm not entirely sure what kind of car it actually is. I think it's a 1966 Chevy Impala. But, it's hard to be sure, with all the customization that has gone into this car. All I know for sure it that it's name it "Crystal Blue Persuasion", it's a '66, and it's one of the most unique cars I have ever seen. I got some flicks of it last year at the Dia De Los Muertos Cruise that Cookie hosted. But I wanted to get some more close up shots of all the beautiful detail that this car has in it. The paint job and pinstriping alone are amazing! It was sitting at the entrance to the parking lot next to a clean Harley. Cookie posted some toy lowriders in front of Crystal Blue, too. This post is all about Crystal Blue Persuasion, because it is such a unique and beautiful work of art.

After I finished geekin' out on Cookie's car, I found another classic that I got stuck on. So the next post will be all about that car. Then, we'll check out the rest of the lowriders, before we move on to the Crystal Cathedral. Check back soon to see the other bad ass cars that showed up for Gus' Birthday picnic! And for more stories, art, photography, and poetry here on the Bsombin' blog!
