Construction over the 405 freeway

What up world?! ...If you live in L.A., you know how crazy the traffic on the 405 freeway is. It's said to be some of the worst traffic in the world! Once I heard they were going to start construction on the freeway, & several bridges that cross over it, I thought, "I want to stay off that 'parking lot' as much as possible!" So, since, I have made every effort to stay off the notorious 405. Late Thursday night, however, I decided to it would be safe to hop on the 405 to go to a friends, since traffic was good & the freeway was empty. I soon found another reason to stay off the 405. ...detours! Lol. I couldn't get off on my exit & got taken way of course. As I was trying to turn around to go back to where I needed to be, I accidentally found myself on the Molhulland bridge that crosses over the 405. It is supposed to be closed to the public, but some how I managed to drive up on the bridge with my camera! And to make it even better, it was very foggy! ...so, being me, I pulled over; jumped out of the truck; & started taking advantage of the photo opportunity. It didn't take long for the Cal-Trans workers to start chasing me around, so I wasn't able to capture too many images, but before getting kicked off I got a few...

"The Wise Old Owl"

I, just recently, finished another canvas. I decided to write a poem to go along with it as well, while I was painting it. Here, now, are both. Enjoy & please check back soon for more Bsombin'!

"The Wise Owl's Words"

I once spoke with
A wise owl,
& told him my fears
So he said...
 "I'll share with you, my
Wisdom,
If you lend me your
Ears..."

"When we first learn to
Spread our wings,
The winds of change
Carry us
Off into the world's
Mystery & majesty
...Then,
As life's
Gravity is realized,
& begins to pull on us
This is when
The fearful fall &
Brave hearts learn to fly &
Become one with
The sky"

Happy Father's Day!

...& thanks for stoppin' by Bsombin'! It's Father's Day. In light of that, here is a poem I wrote to my daughter...

" My Sweet Pea"

Made to be,
Unexpectedly...
Your first mention brought
Worry & Uncertainty,
But, after a second,
I found jubilee
Knowing that soon I'd be
Your daddy!

Once it all set in,
With goosebumps on skin,
I puffed my chest out, &
Picked up my chin,
Then I turned to the world & said,
With a grin,
"Today is the day my
New life begins!"

I felt that I needed to
Change & refine;
I knew that I needed to
Focus my mind;
I knew that this process would take
Work & time,
But I had to make sure that,
For you, I could shine!

The day you were born,
The weak in me died,
So, I struggled & fought,
I tried & I tried,
& as I struggled & fought,
We've grown
Side by side,
Now, I've loved you & taught you &
You made me feel pride!

Because I was
Blessed, with the
Best kid in
This world's history,
A luckier father
There never will be!

...Dedicated to my Sweet Pea!

More from my book of poems...

I've been writing a lot lately, in efforts to finish my book of poems. I've completed about 60% of the book & I am working to have it finished by the end of July. I've written about a variety of things, for this book, but the majority of it is poems about love. ...Love for self, love for family & friends, love & heart break, etc. ...A lot about love all around. Here is another one of my more recent poems that I'd like to share...

"Glacier"

I saw hellfire,
In your eyes,
While my
Soul shivered from
The cold you projected,

Sitting sentenced to the
Moon with no sun
...Nothing but
Fallen stars, & burnt out streetlights,
On my
Blvd. of broken Dreams

I am heir to the
Pains of too much pleasure
&, find myself set on the
Ends,
Regardless of the
Means,
...A self-fish
Swimming in a sea of
Glutton, & Lust, that's made
Arctic by the
Glacier
We froze

...Love's resin
Turns to
Cold crystals,
While
The skull dweller's
Bitterness
Runs down my spine &
Infects my
Warmth with
Chrome
Shadows

You are the
Eclipse that turned
My Mayan skies
Black & cold
While my
Temple
Burned for you

I remember
The hellfire
In your eyes,
While my
Soul shivers from
The cold you
Left me with

Bsombin' June Dub-step Mini Mix

Thanks for stoppin by & checkin' out Bsombin'! Here is the first of this month's mixes. ...I was having a few beers at a bar, the other night, when I over heard a guy, who appeared to be in his mid-50's, trying to explain Dub-step to his parents & friends. The funny thing was, he didn't know how to explain it, & he, himself, seamed pretty unsure, & a little confused, as to what it was. I turned to the group & told them that it's basically bass music that plays around 140bpm. Lol. They all looked even more confused & began asking questions. We had a nice long talk about Dub-step & they said they learned a lot & thanked me for "shining some light on things" for them. The guy in his 50's also said he was happy that he was going to be able to talk to his teenage son about Dub-step & know what he was talking about. Lol. He asked me what were some artist he could look up online, to get more familiar with Dub-step. The first things out of my mouth were Dub Police & Circus Records. At the same time, I was trying to think of what I would put in this month's mix. So, it just seamed right that I do a mix of tunes from my 2 favorite Dub-step labels. Hope you enjoy the "Dub Police vs. Circus Records" mix!

A poem about remembering what we've lost...

Thanks for stopping by the blog! ...In life, we all suffer losses. Regardless of whether it's a loved one passing away; a romance coming to an end; or just loosing touch with someone who you were once close to, having someone you care about disappear out of your life is one of the hardest parts of growing old. ...While I was meditating today, I thought about all the people who I've lost, or had disappear out of my life. I couldn't help but breakdown in tears as I did. Afterward I thought about how difficult it is to loose love & how amazing it is to be blessed enough to have it when we do. As I thought, I found a need to write. ...So I wrote the following poem. However it may apply to your life, I'm sure everyone can relate to this poem in some way or another. With that said, I want to share this with you in hopes that it will remind you not to take the time you have together, with your loved ones, for granted & to appreciate the ones we love while they're still here!

"The Thought Of Loosing You"

I try not to
Look back
Because,
When I do,
I can't help but
Miss &
Think about
Loosing you

We walked in the
Sunshine &
Ran in the
Rain,
We laughed through the
Good times &
Cried through the
Pain

You taught me, &
I showed you,
A world full of
"New",
You learned &
I saw &
Together we
Grew

When I start
Looking back on the
Times that we had,
It's a roller coaster ride of
High/happy &
Low/sad

First,
Jubilee,
When I think how
You shined,
Then,
Total despair,
Knowing you
Left me behind

It always ends
Sad,
The "ride" stops on
A low,
& I'm always
Left asking
"Why did you
Have to go?!"

Please forgive me for
Trying to forget
The past,
But, I must, to survive
...If I don't,
I won't last

I fight, & struggle,
Everyday,
To move on,
But, it hurts &
I miss you so much,
Knowing you're
Gone

The truth,
Though,
I know, is
You will always
Haunt me
...You'll stay in
My heart
Through the rest of
Eternity

Should eternity ever
Conclude,
I pray that the
End is where
I'll find you

Bassrush - L.A. Pt.2!!

Here are the images from the Andy C & Rusko show! Thanks for stopping by Bsombin' & please check back again soon!...

Bassrush - L.A. Pt1!!

Welcome to Bsombin'! ...Last week I went to a couple of Bassrush events & saw some great DJs & a legend in the world of Drum & Bass! On 5/27 I headed out to the weird streets of Hollywood to go to the "Circus". ...Bassrush vs. Circus Records, that is. The Circus records crew killed it all night long! It was another night of "light shows", Mosh pits, & heavy basslines!! The highlight of the night was watching all the Circus crew get on stage, at the end of the night, and go back to back with each other! Then, on 6/1, it was back to Hollyweird to see Sigma, Rusko, & the legendary Andy C! We missed Fury's set & got there half way through Sigma. But We were there for all of "the Don's"(Andy C) set! It was murda pon da decks, when da "Executioner" got started! Andy C put on a show second to none! The man is a hard act to follow, but Rusko closed out the show & got the crowd going insane! Both nights were amazing! Here are images from the Bassrush vs. Circus Night. The next post will be from the Rusko & Andy C night. Enjoy both & check back soon for more Bsombin'!

Keon's Captures Pt.2 - The old L.A. Zoo

So here are images from the lil' photo-ninja's second "assignment". We went to the old L.A. zoo, for a BBQ with some friends, and I just told her to bring back some interesting images. Here are some of the images she brought back...

Keon's Captures Pt.1 - Santa Monica Streets

Hello world! Thanks for stoppin' by Bsombin'! ...My little ninja has taken a liking to photography & I have been helping her develop her skills, by giving her "assignments", when we go out places. I've decided to start sharing some of the images she has captured, on her "assignments", with you. This first set is images that were captured while driving around in sunny Santa Monica, California! The "assignment" was to capture some interesting shots of the streets while using focal points to compose the image. Hope you enjoy & come back again soon!
