Leonardo Da Vinci Exhibition At The Ronald Reagan Library And Museum (09/06/2019) - Room 1

As we continue on our tour of the Da Vinci Exhibition, we move into the first room. There were two large cards on the wall, as we entered, that explained about the Codex Atlanticus. The Codex Atlanticus is a collection of more than 1700 of Da Vinci's sketches. And the work found in Codex was the focus of the exhibition.

Displayed along with the explanation of the Codex Atlanticus was a full sized model of Da Vinci's machine gun. The machine gun was mounted on a large frame with wheels, to make it easier to transport. Since is was so large, it was the only invention displayed in this room. The low lighting made it difficult to take pictures of everything. But I did my best to get shots of the info cards and the model. I also got some close up shots that show the guns on the frame.

The first room was the smallest in the exhibition. But the rest of the rooms had several inventions displayed in them. So things will pick up as we go through the tour. In the next room, we'll see a lot more of Da Vinci's sketches brought to life.

Leonardo Da Vinci Exhibition At The Ronald Reagan Library And Museum (09/06/2019) - The Lobby

Back in September of 2019, I took my aunt Brenda to see the Da Vince exhibition at the Ronald Reagan Library and Museum in Simi Valley. Since there was so much to see at the Library that day, this will be the first in a series of posts. The Da Vinci exhibition was displayed throughout multiple rooms in the library. So I broke the different rooms up into their own posts.

There were a lot of people at the library that day, so I didn't take pictures of everything on display. But I did get the majority of the exhibition's displays. I knew I wouldn't be able to remember all the information that was included in the exhibition. So I took pictures of most of the information that was included in each display. You'll probably need to zoom in on the information to be able to read it, because the print was pretty small to begin with. Reading it was a bit of a strain on my old eyes. It didn't help that every room was dimly lit, either. Still, I loved the whole exhibition and being able to see some of Da Vinci's inventions and designs built into models. It gave me a much deeper appreciation for his genius. He was an amazing man and the exhibition was an inspiring display of creativity and innovation.

I'll start slow, but we'll get through the tour pretty quick. We'll even have time to walk through Air Force One and Marine One, after Da Vinci. The tours were lead in large groups. The following images are from a small display that was in the lobby where we waited for more people to join our group before starting the tour.

Tomorrow we'll see some of Da Vinci's weapons and mechanical inventions, when we continue our tour of the Da Vinci Exhibition.

Image From The Past...

The first thing I'm pulling out of the archives is a single image that could have been taken recently. But it was taken on 09/17/2019. That's about how far back the unposted content goes. ...So you get an idea of how long this stroll down memory lane will be.

Check back soon to see the "DiVinci" display that was at the Ronald Reagan Library back in September of 2019. That up next, along with a lot of automotive photography!

"Tip Toeing"

It's been a good minute... The craziness the world has been going through, over the past year, made my desire to write disappear almost entirely. But, despite the lack of blog posts, I never stopped going out on my adventures or creating art. I just stopped posting most of my work. The little I've shared on social media, over the past year and a half, is less than one percent of all the content I've been hoarding. From art projects to poems to museum tours to cruise nights... I have a lot of stuff to share!

Moving forward, the order of things is going to get a little scrambled... I'll be posting a mix of old and new. That way I can continue posting current events while also going back and sharing all the old content I have saved. To start off the trip through time, here's an old poem I wrote a few years ago...

"Tip Toeing"

As the moon reigned,

I found you

Tip toeing

Through the

Back of my mind

Wrapping our

Antiquated moments

Around silent

Streams

And flooding them

With a sweet

Mist of forgotten

Breaths &

Promises...

In her sovereignty,

The moon held the

Veil that masked

Us from

The "Now" &

This fucking divide,

While you hung

Lost impressions

On falling rafters,

And elevated them

With the warm

Air from abandoned

Embraces &

Aspirations

...As the moon

Reigned in

Her sovereignty,

So to did

Your honey

Rain down on

My serenity,

While you

Tip toed through

The back of

My mysterious mind...
