Revisiting Spring In The Summer

Thanks for checkin' out the blog! Remember the Super Blum? Back when all the flowers were blooming in abundance, the kid and I went to Riverside to visit our friend Deeana and her kids. When we got out there, we decided to go to Mt. Rubidoux and go hiking. Mt. Rubidoux is a mountain near downtown Riverside with a trail to hike and some amazing views along the trail and at the top. The mountain was covered in flowers, swarming with butterflies, and crawling with big colorful lizards, when we got there. I saw the biggest fly I've ever seen, too. It was pretty warm, that day, I remember. But still a great day for a hike. I was chasing butterflies, most of the way up, trying to get a good shot of one. It's a lot harder than I thought I was going to be to get close enough to shoot a butterfly. But I didn't have a telephoto lens. So I had to chase them from flower to flower. Finally, when we got to the top, I was able to get some pictures I was happy with. The lizards made it just as hard to get pictures of them too, since they were quick runners and amazing climbers. I almost fell off a giant rock formation, trying to get a picture of one. But, thank God, I was able to regain my balance before falling. And, I got the shot! The beautiful day drew a lot of other people to the mountain as well. There were some great photo opportunities (some I got, some I missed), with all the activity on the mountain. So I was able to get a lot of shots worth sharing. Our trip to Mt. Rubidoux was a great time. Deeana, the kids, and I all had fun hiking and catching up. We all got a pretty good workout too. And I finally got some good pictures of Butterflies!

Thanks for checkin' out the blog. Check back soon for more stories, photos, art, and more!

Butterfly rescue

Thanks for checkin' out the Bsombin' blog! ...I found a butterfly drowning in the pool the other day. ...Had to lend it a hand. In return, it let me take a bunch of pictures of it sitting on a flower, before it flew away...

A painting with a poem

Hi & thanks for checkin' out Bsombin'! Below, are the 2 pieces I was working on, from the previous post, now completed. I also wanted to share another poem, along with the paintings. I wrote the poem a while back, but have been having more dreams, lately, like the one that originally lead me to write the poem. Although the two weren't intended to go together, I think they work together beautifully. I hope you enjoy them both! Thanks again for stoppin' by & check back soon!

"As I Slept..."

I held you last night,
For the first time in a long time,
After so much time spent longing

The sight of you
Quickened my pulse,
Weakened my knees, &
Sent my world into a spin,
As my greatest weaknesses
Quickly took to governing over my
Strength & fortitude

The sound of your voice
Calmed the chaos in me,
Settled my stirred mind, &
Brought the two sides at war to
Peacefully agree on
Where paradise exists &
What euphoria feels like.

When you held me
I felt the warmth of the womb,
While the dead were resurrected from their tombs...
I was healed of all wounds,
And made to swoon,
As angels crooned
& carried me through
The sunshine that leads to Heaven

...As I slept,
My heart prayed for you and
Lead my
Mysterious mind to
Dream of you.

Murals...

After a few months of trying to finish a mural at a Jr. High in North Hollywood, I am finally going to do it tomorrow! It's taken a while because I can only work on it on weekends, and they aren't always open on weekends. When they are open, it's just for a few hours in the morning. That, and me working a few other jobs, has made this mural turn into a 6 month long project! l am extremely excited to knock this thing out, tomorrow, and finally get it finished! Pictures of the finished mural will be tomorrow's post, but for now I'm posting a picture of a mural I did, for a friend, a while back. It's the letter "M", for Marissa, in front of a picture of Butterflies. This was a a real fun project, because I got creative control and was able to paint whatever I felt would look good. Fortunately, tomorrow's mural is the same.
